Need Inspiration? Check Out Our 'Famous' Exhibition

Need some ideas for your competition entry? Take a look at the Library's free exhibition Famous: Karin Catt Portraits. (It was the inspiration for this competition!)

The exhibition presents around 90 celebrity portraits by high-profile Australian photographer Karin Catt, now based in New York. Her work - usually seen in the pages of glossy magazines - is colourful and provocative.

Portraits in the exhibition include a constellation of Australian and international famous faces, from rock gods and movie stars to world leaders. They include:

  • actors Matt Damon, Eric Bana, Nicole Kidman, Russell Crowe, Magda Szubanski and Miranda Otto
  • musicians Elton John, Lou Reed, AC/DC, Elvis Costello, David Byrne, Fatboy Slim, PJ Harvey, 50 Cent and Eminem
  • personalities such as Muhammad Ali and Yoko Ono
  • world leaders including George Bush Snr and Mikhail Gorbachev.

The exhibition runs from 13 July until 11 November 2006 in the Library's Keith Murdoch Gallery.
