Begins: 18 June 2007 Ends: 21 October 2007

Monday 18 June to Sunday 21 October 2007
Fabulous & Famous is the second in the State Library's series of Snap it! Blog it! online digital photo competitions. It complements the Library's temporary exhibition Famous, which showcases celebrity portraits by Australian photographer Karin Catt.
If you're in Years 7 to 10 at a Victorian school, you're invited to submit photos of fabulous and famous people - either real ones or their own creations (using friends or family and some clever costuming).
All contributions are checked before being published to make sure they meet the competition rules. Once approved, they are available for anyone to view on the Fabulous & Famous website. You can tag your photo with words that relate to it and people viewing the photo blog can then sort the images and view them by tag category.
And did we mention there are great prizes on offer for contributors?
Victorian students in Years 7 to 10.
Take a photo of someone you think is fabulous or famous - whether they're a real person or your own dressed-up creation. Remember - if 'famous' is a little tricky because you have no celebrities on hand (and no one willing to get into costume for you), go for the 'fabulous' (as defined by you) option. You can enter as many times as you like.
When you're ready to submit your entry, simply go to the Submit Your Entry page and upload your photo as a jpeg file. You will need to answer a few simple questions - who your photo subject is and why you chose them. You will also need to provide your year level and a nickname (not your real name), which will be published with your entry, as well as an email address (which won't be published). If you want to, you can add tags to your photo. (Tags are single words or short phrases that describe, or label, your photo according to how you see it.)
Don't forget to check out the Rules before you enter.
Two fantastic Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX12 digital cameras worth $399 RRP are up for grabs - these major prizes will go to the first-prize winners in the Years 7-8 and the Years 9-10 categories. The second-prize winners in each category will win an iPod Shuffle worth $109 RRP. One third-place entry will win a FAMOUS: Karin Catt Portraits Catalogue (featuring pictures from the Library's exhibition) worth $25 RRP.
Winners will be notified by email, and a list of nicknames and their winning photos will be published on the 'Fabulous & Famous' website on Monday 29 October 2007.
